A security director from Indonesia has created an application called
PhoneSnoop for the BlackBerry operating system that allows for remote
eavesdropping on phone calls. The software was written as a proof of
concept in order to show possibility attack methods for the platform.

The software would have to be installed through physical access or by
tricking the user.

The same security firm has released a free tool called "Kisses" which
can detect hidden malware on Blackberry devices of this nature. This
software has not been peer-reviewed by IAS, so the user should be
cautious if they decide to use it.

BlackBerry users should continue to be cautious about installing any
untrusted software on their devices.

Thanks,
Brian
